With few exceptions, the girls side of the Catholic League A-B Division has been shared between two teams for the last 10 years: Farmington Hills Mercy and Birmingham Marian.

On Sunday, Mercy won its first title since 2013-14, with a 45-36 win over Marian in the division’s championship game at Wayne State.

FARMINGTON HILLS — There was a certain bit of revenge sought in this one.

Roughly a month after the Dearborn Divine Child girls basketball team handed Farmington Hills Mercy its only league loss of the year, the teams met for a second time Jan. 26.

There would be no repeat performance.

DEARBORN — Entering Thursday night’s road battle at Dearborn Divine Child, the Farmington Hills Mercy basketball team had a single blemish on its Catholic League Central Division record.

Fittingly enough, it came at the hands of the Falcons back on Dec. 21.

Leaving the Divine Child gym this night, the Marlins’ single blemish remained.
