FARMINGTON HILLS — Farmington Hills Mercy volleyball coach Loretta Vogel could hardly contain herself.
Her squad just won a Class A regional championship against Birmingham Seaholm Nov. 13 at Bloomfield Hills Marian.
In fact, Vogel was so energized, she rushed the floor when her team scored the 25th point in the fourth and final game.

Farmington Hills Mercy downed Detroit Renaissance 3-0 to win the Michigan High School Athletic Association Class A District 21 Volleyball Championship on Thursday, Nov. 6, at Renaissance.
Mercy won the match 25-11, 25-15, and 25-18.
Senior Jenna Lerg had 13 kills. Senior Kayla Fisher added seven kills. Senior Monica Shuk had 22 digs for Mercy (51-6-2).

Farmington Hills Mercy senior Allysen Eads is the 2014 Catholic League champion in girls cross country.
Eads, a four-year standout for the Marlins, won the seven-school race in the A-B Division meet Oct. 18 at Kensington Metropark.

A championship was not to be for the Farmington Hills Mercy golfers, but the Marlins still finished as one of the best teams in the state.
Mercy was sixth among 15 teams in the girls Division 1 tournament, posting a two-day score of 690 at Bedford Valley Golf Course in Battle Creek.

The best of the best in Oakland County swimming converged Oct. 5 in the pool at Waterford Mott for the county swim and dive championship.
Farmington Hills Mercy turned in a dominating performance, finishing with 438 points; Lake Orion High was second with 244.
Bloomfield Hills Marian finished third with 196, Birmingham Seaholm took fourth with 177 and Rochester Adams rounded out the top five with 173.

WATERFORD — If the 2014 Oakland County swim and dive championships, held at Waterford Mott on Sunday, were a swimmer, they went out fast before settling into a familiar rhythm, but had enough in reserve for the extra kick to get to the wall.
