Farmington Hills Mercy moved into the second round of the Catholic League playoffs Saturday with a 68-32 win over Allen Park Cabrini in girls basketball.
Nine of the 11 players who suited up for the game at Riverview Gabriel Richard scored for the Marlins, who improved their overall record to 13-4.
Chloe Godbold netted 14 points, Zora Pullen 11, Jackie Bauer 10, Claire Murray 10 and Katie Coe eight.
Mercy rolled to a 24-9 lead after the first eight minutes and was well on its way to winning at halftime with a 44-20 advantage.
Bauer also dished eight assists; she had four rebounds and three steals, too.
Coe and Godbold led the rebounding effort with six each. Marissa Hardenbergh added five points and three steals.
The Monarchs (6-10) received a dozen points from Abigail Burke and six more from Olivia Mocnik.
Mercy was 4-of-4 at the free-throw line; Cabrini was 12-of-21.
“We got off to a great start,” Mercy coach Gary Morris said. “We played well at both ends of the floor, but I really liked our defensive intensity.
“We were getting after them and had a nice lead early. But give Cabrini credit. (The Monarchs) continued to play hard throughout the game.”
The Marlins will play Livonia Ladywood in a semifinal game at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at Catholic Central High School in Novi.
Bloomfield Hills Marian and Warren Regina will meet in the other semifinal game and second half of a doubleheader at 7 p.m. Wednesday.
The championship game is set for 3 p.m. Sunday at the University of Detroit Mercy’s Calihan Hall.
