Creativity & Connection Across Mercy
Mercy HS students in Ms. Susan Smith’s art classes recently participated in a collaborative project with fellow Mercy Education students at Mercy Academy in Louisville, Kentucky. Through this unique experience, students created original artist trading cards, miniature works of art that reflect their individual style and creativity.
After completing their pieces, students had the opportunity to exchange their artwork with a peer from Mercy Academy, creating a meaningful connection through art and, in some cases, beginning conversations with their exchange partner. The project not only celebrated artistic expression, but also strengthened the shared bond between Mercy schools. A small canvas with a big impact!
Artist trading cards originated in 1997 with Swiss artist M. Vänçi Stirnemann as a way to share and collect art in an accessible, personal format. Today, Mercy students continue that tradition by using art to connect, communicate, and inspire across communities.
