French Heritage Night 2026

French culture met fast breaks and buzzer-beaters during a fun, fun, FUN evening at French Heritage Night on February 23, sponsored by the Michigan Chapter of the Alliance Française, at Little Caesars Arena in downtown Detroit. French students and their families gathered for this annual celebration to cheer on the Detroit Pistons as they took on the San Antonio Spurs, all while honoring the French language and Francophone culture in a spirited, community-centered setting.
Mercy French students proudly joined 465 Francophiles—including students, educators, and professionals from French companies across the Detroit metro area—at this sold-out event. The evening was a perfect blend of sports, culture, and camaraderie, offering a joyful reminder that learning French extends far beyond the classroom walls. Seeing our students and families come together to celebrate French heritage in such an energetic atmosphere made the night especially memorable.
Adding to the excitement, all attendees received a complimentary Pistons soccer-style jersey featuring a French flag, which students immediately wore with pride throughout the game. From the thrill of the competition to the shared pride in French culture, the evening truly highlighted the joy of language, culture, and connection.
What a fantastic way to celebrate French heritage—allez les Pistons and vive le français! For more information about the French program and upcoming events at Mercy, please contact Mme Campbell at jacampbell@mhsmi.org.
