2025 Tony Scalzi Spirit of a Marlin Award
Jada Roberts '25

We proudly announce the recipient of the second annual Tony Scalzi Spirit of a Marlin Award is Jada Roberts.
Over the past four years, Jada has been a constant and uplifting presence at athletic events across every season. Whether she was cheering from the stands, volunteering behind the scenes, or offering her time to support her peers, Jada has always shown up with enthusiasm, kindness, and a true Marlin heart.
Her dedication to our school and her passion for Mercy athletics reflects everything this award represents.
Like Tony, Jada has made those around her feel supported, seen, and part of something bigger.
For 33 years, Mr. Tony Scalzi served Mercy High School as a dedicated teacher, touching the lives of countless students with his wisdom, warmth, and generosity. But Tony’s service to Mercy didn’t end with his retirement. He continued to be a pillar of support—substitute teaching, helping with crowd control, managing event logistics, and always making sure everyone was well-fed. Wherever help was needed, Tony was there.
One of Tony’s greatest passions was cheering on our Marlins. His enthusiasm was infectious, his presence unforgettable. He embodied the very best of what it means to be a Marlin: loyal, dedicated, generous, and full of spirit.
In honor of his legacy, we created this award to recognize a student who mirrors those same qualities—a person whose commitment, school spirit, and selfless support of Mercy athletics stands out in every way.
Jada, thank you for the spirit you bring to our community. We are so proud to honor you tonight. Congratulations!
