2025 Garn Griffin Athletic Award
About
This award, named in honor of the beloved Garn Griffin, is a tribute to his unwavering support and love for Mercy High School’s athletic programs. Garn’s dedication, passion for sports, and commitment to our school left an indelible mark on our community, and it is a true honor to carry on his legacy through this award.
The Garn Griffin Athletic Award recognizes an outstanding athlete who has excelled not only in sports but also in academics, leadership, and sportsmanship. The recipient of this award is someone whose achievements on the field or court are matched by their character and commitment to Mercy’s Mission and Values.
This year, three remarkable Marlins were selected to receive this prestigious award, and it is with great pride that we announce our first recipient.
Aizlyn Albanese

Aizlyn's accomplishments throughout her four-year career have been nothing short of impressive. She has been selected as a 4-time Scholar-Athlete, a 3-time CHSL All-Catholic winner, and a 3-year BCAM Best Award winner. She has been named 1st Team All-State by multiple associations, and has set two historic records—breaking the record for most points scored in a single game and becoming the all-time leading scorer for the Marlins.
Her athletic prowess, combined with her academic excellence and leadership, exemplifies the spirit of this award. Aizlyn, your hard work, dedication, and sportsmanship have set an incredible example for your teammates and the entire Mercy community.
Campbell Flynn

Campbell is an athlete whose list of accomplishments is truly remarkable, not only on the state level—but on the national stage. She is a 4-time CHSL All-Catholic selection, a 3-time All-State honoree, and a multi-time All-American. She is also a 2-time Gold Medalist, and has twice been named the Michigan Gatorade Player of the Year.
But this year, she achieved something historic—becoming the 2024 Gatorade National Player of the Year, an honor reserved for the very best high school athletes in the country.
She has also been recognized as a finalist for the prestigious DAC Athlete of the Year Award, further cementing her legacy not just as a Mercy athlete, but as one of the most accomplished high school athletes in the nation. Her excellence on the field is matched by her leadership, sportsmanship, and humble spirit—qualities that make her an outstanding representative of Mercy’s values.
Campbell, your dedication, drive, and grace have inspired everyone around you. You've not only raised the bar—you've redefined it. Congratulations on an incredible career, and thank you for all you’ve given to the Mercy community.
Kaitlyn Pallozzi

Our third and final recipient of the Garn Griffin Athletic Award is a force on the field and a true champion in every sense of the word.
Over the course of her Mercy career, Kaitlyn has earned an incredible list of honors: 4-time CHSL All-Catholic, 3-time All-District, 3-time All-Region, and 2-time All-State selection. She has helped lead the Marlins to 4 CHSL Championships, and she has been recognized not once, not twice, but three times as the top pitcher in the state of Michigan.
She has been a two-time nominee for Gatorade Player of the Year, and currently holds the title of #1 ranked pitcher in the entire country.
In recognition of her outstanding athletic accomplishments, leadership, and character, she was named the Catholic League Female Athlete of the Year, and is also a finalist for the Detroit Athletic Club Athlete of the Year Award. Her dominance on the mound is matched only by her humility, work ethic, and fierce loyalty to her team.
Kaitlyn, your talent and determination have not only made history at Mercy—they've inspired everyone who has watched you play. Congratulations, and thank you for the legacy you leave behind.
