Class of 2025 Valedictorian

Class of 2025 Valedictorian

Maeve Casey - Yale University

The Mercy Class of 2025 Valedictorian selected by her fellow classmates, teachers and administration is Maeve Casey who was chosen for this honor because of her outstanding academic achievements, personal character, co-curricular activities - and unwavering commitment to the values that define our Mercy community.

Overwhelmingly, students, staff and her fellow Val/Sal Finalists shared that Maeve embodies all that a graduating class hopes for in their commencement representative. Repeatedly, she was described as a deeply respected leader - and more importantly, as a true Mercy sister.

Maeve embodies the Core Values and critical concerns of Mercy with intention and says that  “Mercy’s Core Values are so ingrained in her that she can never forget that she came from Mercy.” This deep sense of empathy and faith has shaped her interactions with others, and her intentional care for those around her has left a lasting impression. One classmate shared, “I guarantee that Maeve has helped every single person in our class at least once in some way.”

She serves as an officer of the Spanish Honors Society, a Youth Mercy Associates Leader, Kairos Retreat Leader and Student Director, Captain of the Mercy Varsity Golf Team and has been involved in multiple clubs and service experiences. In each of these roles, Maeve has modeled integrity, purpose, and compassion. She lives by the belief that “you can only change the world when you change how you view the world,” and she encourages herself to be brave enough to sit with discomfort, knowing that challenge is part of meaningful personal growth.

For Maeve, learning provides a sense of wonder and enjoyment. Classmates cite how deeply Maeve is respected for her kindness, her spiritual depth, her humility, and her steady commitment to academic growth. And she deeply embraces the Mercy Core Value of Educational Courage having earned an outstanding GPA of 3.99 through a course load that has included 7 AP classes and rigorous honors curriculum.

We congratulate Maeve on being Mercy Valedictorian! Maeve will be heading next to Yale where her current plans are to either study pre-med or pre-law.

Maeve, your exceptional academic record, leadership, inspiration and overall achievements make Mercy a better place. Congratulations, Maeve and thank you for sharing your talents with Mercy!
