"Megan lives out the Mercy values naturally in and out of school. She includes everyone, no matter who they are; she is an example of kindness and dedication to all. She is smiling and happy, radiating joy wherever she goes. She puts others' needs above her own and listens attentively."

"Mrs. Becker has inspired me to explore my faith due to her immense love for God and dedication to living the way that Jesus would live. She is an incredible leader. She has the purest heart. Mary Kate makes others feel loved and accepted."

About the Heart of Mercy Award

We are called to be persons of Mercy and to live out the Core Values of a Mercy Education: Compelled by Mercy; Educational Courage; Inspired by Faith; Principled Leadership; A Voice for Dignity and Respect. The Heart of Mercy Award is given to one staff and one student annually to recognize leaders in our Mercy community who live out the Mercy Values and encourage others by their compassionate example. Francis Ward who founded the Sisters of Mercy in the United States spoke of her friend the Venerable Catherine McAuley and describes her as: "She saw the world and its people in terms of God's love, she gave love to everyone who needed love, and she cared for everyone who needed car." This vision urges us to continue in her footsteps.
