Ten high school players have been named finalists for Miss Volleyball 2020 in Michigan.

Only seniors are considered for the award, sponsored by the Detroit Free Press since 2003.

Finalists are selected by the Michigan Interscholastic Volleyball Coaches Association. This year’s nominees include, in alphabetical order:

Charli Atiemo

School: Farmington Hills Mercy

Position: Middle hitter

Breakdown: Returning first team All-State (third team as a sophomore). Three consecutive team championships at Catholic League level, districts, and regionals. Defending state champs.

College plans: undecided, but several Division 1 offers.

Julia Bishop

School: Farmington Hills Mercy

Position: Setter

Breakdown: Was instrumental in Mercy’s run to three straight Final Fours, capped by Div. 1 state title last season. On pace to break state record in career assists.

College plans: Michigan State
