2024 Teacher of the Year

Congratulations to our 2024 Mercy Teacher of the Year Mrs. Shelley Bajorek, Speech & Theatre! Mrs. Bajorek creates a learning environment that is exciting, engaging and allows for students and the Performing Arts department to take risks and grow. Through Mrs. Bajorek’s guidance, many students discover newly found courage and unlock their inner talents. From her intentional integration of our school's mission in her work, to her unwavering commitment to unity and sisterhood - she fosters an environment of inclusivity and female empowerment, both within the classroom and on the stage.

Mrs. Bajorek enriches our school community through so many creative initiatives and endeavors. She is an advocate for women, shines a light on female playwrights and women’s unique narratives, ensuring this empowerment is present in each of her classes and each student voice is heard.

Her passion for Mercy Values and the process she uses to instill them in her students is exemplary, and I learn from her every day, just like I know she will say she learns from her students and colleagues as well.

She encourages students to reach outside of their comfort zone, and provides the necessary support along the way. She has a passion for her work and instills that passion onto her students. Through her classes, she helps students find their inner talents, and builds their confidence to explore and take risks.

Mrs. Bajorek is a guiding light in the lives of many, each day showing genuine care - and being a force for positive change within our school community. Everyone is treated with kindness, dignity, patience, and compassion.

Anyone who has been in a class with Mrs. Bajorek as their teacher knows how welcoming and kind the atmosphere is from the second you step foot through the door. She has changed my life over the past three years, pushing me to become the best version of myself simply because she believed in me.

Bravo, Mrs. Bajorek!
