FARMINGTON HILLS — With the amount of talent the Farmington Hills Mercy volleyball team has, it can be easy to look ahead and focus on other things.
But that’s exactly what the Marlins are trying to avoid, as they’ve tried to stay focused on one game at a time. That philosophy had the Marlins sitting at 33-1 overall at press time, with their only loss coming back on Sept. 14 to Lowell High.

FARMINGTON HILLS — When Diane Dietz got the call letting her know that she was being inducted into the Michigan Sports Hall of Fame, she thought it could be a prank.
A former colleague of hers, Matt Friedman, who is now a director for the Michigan Sports Hall of Fame, was the one to give her the call, but he was not joking around.

Lisa Ludwinski's nationally recognized Detroit bakery, Sister Pie, is selling a new peanut butter-s'mores cookie that she concocted with a group of 8- to 13-year-olds.
This is the 4-year-old cafe's second year partnering with a nonprofit, after 2018 with Detroit Food Academy. For 2019 it chose Alternatives for Girls, which serves homeless and high-risk girls and young women.
