Honors Convocation
The entire Mercy school community convened on May 23rd for the annual HONORS CONVOCATION to recognize all the stellar students of 2019. From math and science, service and scholarships, Newsprint and Lore yearbook, all were honored for their awesome achievements and a standing ovation to the seniors for a fabulous four years!
Congratulations to the Class of 2019 for earning $13+ Million in college scholarships and volunteering over 16,000 hours of community service.
Congratulations to these Catholic League Class of 2019 Scholar Athletes who were honored at the 44th Annual Recognition Dinner! Maggie Dwyer - Field Hockey; Francesca Schena - Swimming; Olivia Evans - Ski (winner); Sophie VanderWeele - Golf (winner) and Tennis; Jasmin Hudson - Bowling. Vicky Kowalski received the award as Golf Championship Coach and Mike Kowalski picked up the award for Bowling Championship Coach!
Teacher of the Year
CONGRATULATIONS to the 2019 Mercy Teacher of the Year Mrs. Lisa Wilson! Mrs. Wilson goes above and beyond the call of duty in her Biology classroom.
Counselor of the Year Award
Congratulations Mrs. Holly Markiecki-Bennetts recipient of The Joyce Ivy Foundation 2019 Counselor of the Year Award! "My role as a counselor is to meet students where they are and help them to become the young women they are meant to be." Read more here.
Over the Memorial Day weekend, 12 Mercy forensics students competed at the Grand National Tournament of the National Catholic Forensics League. Over 2000 students and 65 dioceses were represented. Three Mercy students broke to the octofinal round of the tournament, placing them in the top 48 in their category: Sophomore Yasmine Branch in Declamation, junior Caitlin Griffin and senior Avalon Barr in Dramatic Duo. Congratulations also to teacher Ms. Isabelle Moore. We are incredibly proud of this wonderful achievement!
Way to go, Libby Bartels '19 who was named a winner for 2018-2019 Most Positive Athletes in Michigan!
Congratulations to Macey Earle '20 who received the Farmington/Farmington Hills Optimist Club Leadership Award.
Hats off to Madeline Keuten '20 who participated in the 36th Annual Michigan Regional Chinese Schools Speech Contest and won 1st place for the Chinese as Foreign Language group!

College Board National Hispanic Recognition Program - Congratulations to Genesis Gonzales '20 who scored in the top 2.5% on the PSAT/NMSQT among all Hispanic and Latino test-takers in the region. She is invited to participate in the National Hispanic Recognition Program administered by College Board.
Go Riveters!
The Riveters Mercy Robotics Team brought home a blue banner with a 1st place finish at the FIRST Robotics Jackson District Event. The Riveters finished with a 11-1-0 record after 80 qualifying matches in 2nd place. They went 2,0, 2-0, 2-0 in the quarterfinals, semifinals and finals and beat the 1st place alliance to become the District Event Winner with a 1st place ranking. The team also earned the Engineering Inspiration Award and are currently ranked 13th in the State! 2019 Miss Hockey
Congratulations to Libby Bartels '19 who was named the 2019 Miss Hockey Michigan! Libby also received the prestigious Hobey Baker High School Character Award! The Hobey Baker award honors high school hockey players who exemplify the ideal that "Character Builds Excellence" and recognizes outstanding individual performance on and off the ice.

Youth Mercy Associates
God Bless new Youth Mercy Associates Maggie Dwyer, Isabelle Fanning, Angela Rea, Anna Rimatzki and Alexis Dickie who made her re-commitment at last month's Foundation Day Mass commissioning ceremony.
Business Professionals of America
Mercy students were among the more than 400 students who competed at the Business Professionals of America Region 6 Leadership Conference on January 4, 2019 at Henry Ford College. The Mercy chapter had multiple students place in several events and took home three 1st place finishes. Students who placed in the top 10 at the conference include:

Human Relations Council proudly presented Ethnic Bazaar 2018 "Together We Are" on Friday, November 30th in the Drama Studio. Ethnic Bazaar is a long standing Mercy tradition which highlights our diversity and unity through song, dance, prayer, food, and fashion. Wow! Kudos to Katherine Hutter '20 who was named the MaxPreps Semper Fidelis Athlete of the Month! This award is only given to one male and one female athlete a month throughout the entire nation. Values in action! Mercy joined hearts and hands to help provide food and donations to Metro Detroit senior citizens in need for our annual Focus: HOPE food drive. We give thanks for our 30+ year partnership with Focus: HOPE and are proud to be their largest food donor during the holiday season.
