From the Coaches:

Last night, Mercy competed at the Early Bird Invitational at Huron Meadows. It was our second race at Huron Meadows of the season and the second one of this week after the ladies raced on Tuesday as well.

Overall, Mercy placed 11/12 in the Gold Division; however, we are happy with how the ladies ran because not only did we challenge them by moving them into the more competitive division, but we also reviewed hill techniques this week to assist them in being quicker down hills and all of the ladies executed the "windmilling" down the hills.

In addition, 14/15 runners ran season PRs or lifetime PRs at the race including Olvia Haass who ran a 1:20 minute PR, Lauren Swards who broke 30 minutes for the first time in her career, Paige Wiaduck who also broke 30 minutes, freshwoman Liz Memmer who earned her letter (22:30), and Lily Fromm who ran a 10 second PR over her time at the same meet last year. Also, Grace Martin also had an almost minute PR over her same race last year.

With the confidence boost at the meet and the form drills today at practice--as well as the laughs during the drills and during the hill workouts through a flock of geese--we are looking forward to the Avrill Invite this coming weekend at Kensington.
Have a great weekend!
