Dear Mercy Families,
We are excited to share with you some of the very good news we have received over the past few weeks due to the combined efforts of the wonderful Mercy community.
We are pleased to announce that our Mercy family continues to grow. On March 17th, Mrs. Margaret-Ann Wommer (English and Social Studies teacher) and her husband Greg welcomed a beautiful baby girl. Victoria Marie weighted in at 21.5" and 7 lbs 1 oz. Mom and baby are doing wonderfully and welcome your prayers as they learn more about each other!
Several weeks ago we participated in an annual Stewardship Review from the Mercy Educational Systems of America (MESA). Last week we received feedback from the MESA review team applauding our detailed strategic planning that allows for our fiscal responsibility and the development of support programs. Specifically mentioned was our commitment to the education and lived expression of the Mercy Charism, supporting the development of the whole young woman.
Last week, we welcomed the AdvancED Engagement Review team over three days for an accreditation process that allowed us to boast of the many strengths of a Mercy education. Visitors interviewed students, parents, faculty, staff, board members and administrators. They visited over 40 classrooms and reviewed supporting documents and artifacts representative of the Mercy experience.
I am pleased to share with you some preliminary findings from the accreditation review team:
-
More than half of the 30 standards evaluated were rated in the highest of categories. This is an impressive accomplishment!
-
Our digital learning score is uniquely high compared to other schools and supports the accolades and achievements earned as an Apple Distinguished School
-
Classroom observations yielded high scores in well managed learning, supportive learning, active learning, high expectations, and digital learning
Noted areas of strength indicated practices that are embedded in our culture, resulting in exceptional scores in:
-
College Readiness
-
Digital Learning
-
Strategic Management and Planning of Resources
-
Clearly Evident Values, Purpose and Culture Reflecting Our Commitment to Developing Self-Reliant, Self-Advocating Students
-
Development of Health and Safety Program
We expect to receive the official report with specific details and suggestions for how we can continue to grow in our academic excellence within the next 4-6 weeks. As an entire community, across all roles and responsibilities, all contributions make an amazing impact on our continual progress in enhancing the Mercy experience. We truly look forward to this continuous improvement journey in support of each and every Mercy girl.
Finally, we were notified by that we are recipients of a sizeable safety and security award from the Michigan State Police Competitive School Safety Grant! This grant will allow us to pursue prioritized safety projects to enhance overall campus security.
We are grateful that you are in partnership with us to support your daughter as she becomes a woman who makes a difference!
May you enjoy a Lenten season of personal reflection and spiritual fulfillment,
Patricia Sattler
Principal
