Registration Information

  • Those Freshwomen who are already registered have until May 18 to make schedule changes. Please email admissions@mhsmi.org with these schedule changes.
  • Appointments are being scheduled for accepted students to register on Tuesday, May 22nd. Please contact the Admissions Office to set up an appointment.

2012 - 2013 At a Glance

Mercy has established the following calendar parameters for the next school year 2012-2013:

  • Staff will be meeting August 20-24
  • Classes start for all grades on August 27
  • ½ day of school on December 21
  • Christmas Break runs December 22-January 6
  • Classes resume on January 7 and 8
  • First semester exams on January 9, 10, 11
  • Semester Break Day on January 14
  • Second semester begins on January 15
  • Martin Luther King holiday (no school) on January 21
  • Easter Break runs March 28-April 7
  • Classes resume on April 8
  • Second semester exams on June 5, 6, 7

IMPORTANT ADMISSIONS DATES

Open House is an opportunity for families to tour Mercy High School, meet students and staff, and learn more about the curriculum. Tours generally last an hour and include short presentations made by Mercy's academic departments.  Visitors also enjoy the performances of cast members from the school plays, instrumental groups, Mercy Mimes, Mercyaires and athletic teams. Families interested in attending Mercy's Open House should enter through the Auditorium entrance of Middlebelt Road. The school is located on the northeast corner of Middlebelt and 11 Mile Roads. Check out pictures of past Open Houses here.

HIGH SCHOOL PLACEMENT TEST -No pre-registration is necessary.

Eighth grade students interested in attending Mercy must take the High School Placement Test in November, December, February, or April. After these dates, transfer students and late eighth grade registrants may make individual application by contacting the Admissions Office at (248) 476-2484.

Testing Information

  • The High School Placement test, measuring proficiency in English, reading, vocabulary, math, problem solving and science, is administered to eighth grade students. Test results and school records determine acceptance to Mercy High School. No pre-registration is necessary.
  • There is a $26 fee for the November and December Placement Tests and a $28 fee for the February and March Placement Tests.  Payments via cash or checks payable to Mercy High School will be accepted.
  • Students coming to take the tests are requested to:Enter Mercy by doors nearest flagpole (11 Mile side of school).
  • Have two sharpened #2 pencils.
  • A snack will be provided during the break.
  • NO calculators allowed.

Immunization Policy

  • In compliance with the State of Michigan, County of Oakland and School Office of the Archdiocese of Detroit, Mercy High School must observe the policy regarding immunization of students. All new students must submit a Health Appraisal form that is signed and dated by a physician after April 15 as well as a complete updated immunization record.
