| Five Values of Mercy High School
The Sisters of Mercy, Regional Community of Detroit, sponsor s of Mercy High School, identify the following five Values as characterizing their ministries: Service, Justice, Mercy, Human Dignity and Option for the Poor. These Values inspire and challenge all at Mercy High School in the daily living of our spirit.
"My experience of Mercy is that it not only enjoys a history of academic excellence, but is firmly rooted in the traditions of the Catholic Church ... under the direction and care of an outstanding Campus Ministry Program, Mercy continues to proclaim the Gospel message as well as the mission of Catherine McAuley to educate women with dignity and respect, that they might see within themselves the same" - Rev. Denis Theroux, St. Robert Bellarmine Parish.
The pastoral team has helped me understand the importance of living the five Mercy Values. Through its many projects this group shows young women the value of serving others, especially those who cannot help themselves. It attaches real faces to what can sometimes be abstract ideas. Like Catherine McAuley, we are all called to look for God in those around us, and serve each other in whatever ways we can. (Mary McEvoy 04)
Faith is my rock in life. No one can ever take this amazing gift away from me. Through Mercy retreats and service projects I have strengthen my relationship with God. Without learning and understanding more about God through Mercy I would never have this true happiness that has influenced my life in so many positive ways. (Mary Catherine Costello 04)
Pastoral Team has allowed me to more fully participate in my faith and lead my faith community here at Mercy. My faith has grown immensely through our retreats (especially KAIROS). The opportunities we are blessed with to organize Masses, prayer services and retreats has mad my four years at Mercy more meaningful and satisfying. (Katie Egan 04)
Mercy has meant so much to me. The Mercy values are not just something to decorate our websites and agenda books with, they are truly lived and breathed by the school community. The values are not only welcomed but are a priority of the school. We work the values together as a school community through various projects, but we work the values individually with our daily conversation and smiles to students and staff. (Lydia Wylie-Kellermann 04)
"My personal involvement at Mercy high School in such events at Holyday Liturgies and the Sacrament of Reconciliation have been rich and rewarding. Retreats and various prayer services throughout the year serve to challenge today's young Catholic women who attend Mercy to truly live the Gospel message and make our society a better place." - Rev. Brian Chabala , St. Fabian Parish.
