Alumnae and Parents Gather in Prayer
On Thursday, November 5th seventeen Mercy women gathered in the school chapel to pray the Rosary and Divine Mercy Chaplet. The diverse group of women who gathered together to share their faith in Jesus Christ and their devotion to Our Blessed Mother included Mercy High School faculty, alumnae, past and present moms, and a current student. Together, these women offered prayers of Thanksgiving for Mercy High School, the Sisters of Mercy , current students, faculty and staff, alumnae, retired faculty and staff and the many friends and benefactors of Mercy High School. They also prayed for the current needs of the school and for the entire Mercy family especially those suffering due to financial crises, illnesses, or death of loved ones. Patty Kolinski Ward '75 led the group with her beautiful voice in honoring Mary, our Mother, in song.
An afterglow followed the prayer service and provided an opportunity to share coffee, cookies, conversation and Mercy memories.
The response to this evening of prayer has been favorable and more women have expressed interest so another event will take place on Thursday, January 7th. Patty Kolinski Ward invites all Mercyaires, past and present, to join in on this upcoming event. Further details will be forthcoming.

Advancing Mercy
Moving Mercy Forward – The Annual Fund and Our Campaign
Many sources of funding support the work of Mercy High School. Tuition is the largest single source of funding, but that doesn’t tell the whole story. The Annual Fund Program provides monies for current programs, limited capital improvements and tuition assistance while the Capital Campaign is designed to fund major physical plant and long-term program improvements.
These two activities have similar but separate objectives within the scope of funding for Mercy High School. Likewise, the sources of funding have different characteristics too: usually, Annual Fund dollars will come from personal or organizational “operating funds” within the given fiscal year. Conversely, Campaign support is usually longer-term (based on pledges up to 5 years in length) and often coming from resources that have been accumulated over time. The most common Annual Fund gift will come in the form of cash/check. Frequently, Campaign gifts will be made in the form of appreciated assets – money market funds, stocks, bonds, etc. . .
Make a Campaign Commitment
Consider this: many years ago, someone made a sacrifice so that you could have the experience of a Mercy High School education. Pass it on. Make your commitment to our Campaign so other young women of the future can experience a quality Mercy education!
