Fall has been a very exciting time at Mercy High School! Not only has the alumnae publication, formerly the Merci now the MOSAIC, received a makeover but Mercy is looking toward the future with plans to enhance the school. I encourage each of you to learn more about these exciting plans by visiting the website buildingmercysfuture.org.
This fall I've met some truly amazing alumnae! These alumnae who are returning to Mercy as moms of current students and and others are embarking on the first ever Alumnae Association Chapter in DC. It's wonderful to put faces to names and to know that the Mercy mission is still very important to you. I look forward to meeting more alumnae at upcoming class reunions and at events throughout the year.

Investing in Excellence . . . Building Mercy's Future
By now you should have received, or you will be receiving soon, a brochure and letter outlining Mercy's exciting plans for the future. Mercy High School is embarking on it's most ambitious Capital Campaign to date. Nearly 70% of the $4 million goal has been achieved in gifts and pledges, but an additional $1.2 million is needed to make our dreams a reality! We would love each alumna to be a part of this very special endeavor to move Mercy forward.
You may wonder how you can play a part in this exciting project . . .
If every alumna contributed at least $100 to Mercy, we would make our goal.
Get your class to strive for 100% participation. Every gift counts and will bring us one step closer to achieving the goal.
For those classes celebrating a reunion, consider making a gift to support the campaign in honor of your reunion celebration.
Your gift to the Campaign will support updating science labs which are scheduled to be constructed in the summer of 2009, creating a student commons area, enhancing the Athletic Fields, providing air conditioning for the auditorium and Media Center, and investing in the School's Endowment Fund.
Twenty Mercy alumnae gathered on October 11 to discuss the establishment of the first ever Chapter of the Mercy Alumnae Association!
Judy Richer hosted Mercy gals from classes ranging from 1953 to 2004. These women discussed possible opportunities for involvement in Metro DC over tea and treats. From service projects in the community to "girls night out," this group is looking towards bringing the Mercy mission to Metro DC!
If you live or work in the DC area and would like to be added to the Chapter mailing list contact Jennifer Stark in the Alumnae Office. We look forward to hearing about the Chapter's upcoming events!
Memorial Mass
You are invited to the Alumnae Memorial Mass on Sunday, November 9 from 12:00 - 2:00pm held in the Mercy High School Chapel. Fr. Joseph Romano will lead us in prayer in this special liturgy to remember alumnae and friends who have passed on.

Alumnae Basketball Game
Save the date to shoot some hoops with former Marlin basketball players this December. The Mercy Alumnae Basketball Game will be held on:
Two Mercy students, Patty Battersby '10 and Sarah Blake '10 are making a difference. They are co-founders and co-chairs of Blanketed With Love which makes blankets for the homeless, elders, and those in need. Featured in the Michigan Catholic for their amazing effort to help their priest's family in Africa, Patty and Sarah continue their mission and have raised about $2,500 to make more blankets.
They have received orders for more than a 150 blankets from a variety of social service agencies in the metropolitan Detroit area. Homeless shelters, soup kitchens, crisis pregnancy centers, and community centers that serve the elderly will be among those receiving these heart-felt pieces of warmth. Volunteers are always welcome! Stitch a couple fleece tie blankets in your spare time to assist blanketing those with love and compassion.
