Alumnae Newsletter - January 2007
Mercy's Technology Gets Noticed!
Alumna Fanchon Stinger '89 was at MHS with a Fox 2 News camera crew recently to do a story on the cutting-edge technology that was implemented this year at Mercy High School. Each freshwoman is now equipped with a tablet computer with the capability to input text, select and open files throught the use of a screen designed to interact with a stylus. With a wireless environment, students are able to interact with classmates and teachers for in-class assignments. Faculty have integrated the new technology into their lesson plans creating a new and exciting way to learn.

Pick up a copy of the MICHIGAN CATHOLIC at church on Sunday, January 28th. Mercy's Prayer class will be featured in their special Catholic Schools Week Supplement.
Mercy's Prayer class uses the Hermitage room in the Mercy Chapel for contemplation, reflection and prayer. Many special thanks to Mercy alumna Suzanne Young '71 who created a beautiful piece of artwork for the Hermitage room.
Dialing for Dollars
A Mercy phonathon will be held on January 31st and February 1st to raise funds for the Annual Fund. If you get a call from Mercy, please pick up the phone to talk to a volunteer caller to help us grow Mercy's Annual Giving program!
Mercy Open House
Do you know a 7th or 8th grade girl who would be the perfect Mercy girl? We invite all Mercy alumnae to bring a prospective family to attend the Winter Open House on February 11th from 1-3pm. Over the years we have found that most recruiting happens through word-of-mouth communication from our alumnae! Thank you for sharing your Mercy memories with the young women in your community. Contact Maureen Stirling, Admissions Coordinator, at mpstirling@mhsmi.org if you are interested in attending, or would like more information.
Distinguished Alumna Award
Help us honor our outstanding Mercy Alumnae who are making a difference in our world. If you know an alumna who uses her talents and skills to exemplify the Mercy values and is making a difference, nominate her for the 2007 Mercy Distinguished Alumna Award. Nominations will be accepted until 12 noon EST on April 2nd. The award will be presented at the Tea for Tuition on April 29. Please visit the spotlight page for information and nomination materials.
