If you have benefited either directly or indirectly from the Mercy experience, you are invited to show your appreciation, and, in the process, secure these benefits for others. Because widespread participation is vital to our success, we welcome all gifts, large and small. We also welcome the gift of your time in the many volunteer opportunities that are available. Here are a few of the giving options that invite you to invest in Mercy and make a difference in the lives of young women. For more information on giving to Mercy, please contact Tom Sklut, Director of Advancement 248-893-3538, twsklut@mhsmi.org.
Sr. Regina Marie Doelker, RSM Endowed Scholarship Fund
One of the most compelling aspects of Sr. Regina’s presence at Mercy is her dedication to students with special financial needs. Help us continue this aspect of her ministry by contributing to her named Endowed Scholarship Fund.
Leave A Legacy
No work of charity can be more productive of good to society, or more conducive to the happiness of the poor, than the careful instruction of women.
-- Catherine McAuley, Foundress of the Sisters of Mercy
There are numerous gift opportunities that will ensure our mission of the "Careful instruction of young women" for the next 60 years. We would be pleased to have you collaborate with us through Estate Planning. Bequests offer significant tax benefits to the donor and are always a tremendous benefit to Mercy High School.
The will is one of the most popular vehicles for making a long-range gift. Please take a moment to prayerfully consider a few planned giving options. Although financial and legal advisors are primary resources for estate planning, The Development Office, 248-476-8922, can assist you with questions specific to Mercy High School.
Bequest
Provide for a gift to Mercy through your will without jeopardizing your financial income. Bequests can take various forms and are simple to do.
- Specific Bequest
A specific bequest permits you to designate Mercy as the recipient of a specific dollar amount or a specific piece of property. These may include cash, securities, real estate or tangible personal property.
- Percentage Bequest
Rather than a specific amount, the donor may bequeath a percentage of the estate to Mercy High School.
- Restricted Bequest
Your bequest may be restricted to a specific purpose. You may wish to memorialize a family member by establishing a fund to provide tuition assistance or support for a particular Mercy program.
Annual Giving
Gifts to Mercys Annual Fund provide essential support for the operating budget and are applied directly to annual expenses. They help support academics and athletics, pay staff salaries, provide funds to keep our equipment and technology up-to-date and help with the ongoing maintenance of the schools facilities and grounds.
Endowment
This fund ensures that Mercy has a permanent source of money for its future growth. Gifts are made to the principal; monies are invested, and only the income on the investment is available for expenditure.
Join the Circle of Mercy
The Circle of Mercy is a group of people interested in helping make it possible for young women to attend Mercy High School by providing scholarships and tuition assistance. Their support may be structured as an endowed scholarship fully funded or funded over time. It can also take the form of a financial commitment over a specific period of time (usually 4 years or more), to be used for tuition assistance. This special group of donors will be acknowledged in a special section of our Annual Report. Donors who establish endowed scholarships or make a long-term commitment to financial assistance may be able to meet the specific student that they are sponsoring.
