SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITIES

Mercy High School is grateful to the donors who have generously established the following NAMED SCHOLARSHIPS. These gifts create a legacy that will enable Mercy High School to continue to offer learning opportunities to future generations of Women Who Make a Difference.

The Named Scholarship application period for the 2010 - 2011 school year will begin on February 11, 2010. Application essays will be due on March 30, 2010. Awardees will be notified by mail at the end of June.

*Available to all registered students including incoming 9th grade students who are registered at Mercy for the upcoming school year.

REQUIREMENTS

  1. Applicants are required to submit a one page, double-spaced, typed essay responding to the criteria required for the particular scholarship of interest. The student is to specify the scholarship desired and her reasons for attending Mercy.
  2. A student may apply for one or more scholarships.
  3. Type the name of the scholarship on the top of each essay for which you are applying.
  4. Include your name, address, and grade for the upcoming school year on the back of your essay, unless otherwise noted.
  5. Place your essay(s) in one envelope addressed to the Advancement Office. Make sure your name, address, grade next year, and a list of all named scholarships applied for is on the envelope.
  6. Essays written by the same student must be different for each named scholarship application and inclusive of a direct response to the criteria for the particular scholarship. If the criteria includes"financial need" the student must clearly specify the need in her essay. Essays that do not fulfill these requirements will not be considered.
  7. Recipients of 4 year grants are required to reapply each year in order to be considered for renewal.

Student Mentor Partners

If your daughter is currently in 8th or 9th grade, has average or marginal academic skills, (B or below) and desires to reach her full potential you may want to participate in the Student Mentor Partners opportunity at studentmentorpartners.org.

Community Caring Program

The Community Caring Program was established in 1995 to give out scholarships to children in the Tri-County Area.  The 2010 Scholarship Program is underway.  Please check the following website for more info www.communitycaring.org.
